"Linus
Pauling and the Twentieth Century : Quest for Humanity"
is sponsored by the Linus Pauling family, Oregon State
University, and Soka Gakkai International (SGI), in order
to educate a new generation about this remarkable man
and his unceasing quest for peace.
Both
Linus Pauling, Jr. who chaired the Select Advisory Committee
and Linda Pauling Kamb who served on the committee, contributed
many hours of time, as well as reminiscences, artifacts
and photographs to insure the success of the exhibit.
Clifford
S. Mead, Head of Collection Services, Special Collections,
Valley Library at Oregon State University in Corvallis,
Oregon, and Ramesh Krishnamurthy, Project Director for
the Ava Helen and Linus Pauling Papers at Oregon State
University gave generously of their time and expertise,
and lent some of their most precious artifacts as well
as the majority of the photographs used in the exhibit.
Soka
Gakkai means "value creating society." SGI is
a worldwide organization of lay believers in the Buddhism
of Nichiren, a 13th Century sage. SGI is committed to
activities which further peace, culture and education.
